Honestly, I'm so, so very glad AvA is the first fandom I've actually been an active participant in.

LONG RANT INCOMING

Throughout the years, I have "been in fandoms", but I never felt like posting my own art or works, commenting on vids (i didn't have a youtube account back then, still don't), or being anything other than a silent observer.

Back in March, when I came home from that math competition, and found AvMath in my recommendeds, and just clicked on it, I did not expect to get dragged into a fandom about stick figures, of all things. I remember watching AvPhysics directly after, then finding "Wanted", and watching it with no context. I remember going to the wiki, seeing all of the content that was made, and and binging AvM and the actual shorts and literally everything else.

And most of all, I remember thinking, "I wish I could just erase all of this from my mind and experience the magic all over again."

In May, I took a chance and went to Ao3. I knew it was a site to post fanfiction, but it had never been something I was interested in. But I was just curious, to see if fanfiction about this amazing fandom really existed. I didn't have an account, no; I think I just wanted to see.

There were about 1600-1700 fics on there about AvA, during that time. I didn't know how hits worked or kudos worked, but I just remember scrolling down until I could find something that looked like a lot of people had liked it.

And even then, I clearly remember the first fic I touched. "Identity", by LeenaFreeBird (I'll link it at the bottom). I absolutely loved it. I spent the rest of the month simply reading, and consuming all of the cool hcs, learning what fan terms meant, having an idea for my own fic that I thought, back then, I could never write.

Because I didn't.

I never made an account or wrote. I never left comments because part of me though people without an account wouldn't be able to, and that was just habit, at this point.

And even though I stepped slightly away from there in the months of June and July (we were in the process of moving halfway across the country, I had just watched the new Demon Slayer season, and upon recommendation had binged all of Haikyuu in a week), I always made sure to keep updated on whatever new AvA/M videos had been posted.

In August, I went back on Ao3.

SO MANY AMAZING FICS HAD BEEN WRITTEN IN THE SPAN I WAS AWAY.

I remember binging all of them for the month. I sat alone at lunch (as I was new I didn't have any friends), just reading them on my phone and getting sucked back into there.

In September AvI began. On a whim I logged back into my tumblr account that I had made like 5 years ago in 4th grade to post random rambling stuff about my life (I tagged nothing but my username wth), and redid my entire blog. I was sooo happy when one of my posts reached 100 notes.

I felt way stronger, and way braver. I joined the invite queue for Ao3, because I decided I DID want an account, and I DID want to post my own fics.

And everyone was (and is) SO NICE about it. They love my fics and posts (which I still consider really crappy, btw) to pieces, and always give me good comments. Even my bad fanart (another thing I got the courage to post during this time). Shipping wars never happen here (if they did, I wouldn't know about it). Rarepairs are appreciated, and we unanimously know the ships that should be completely illegal (not naming ship names here).

Everything and everyone is loved, and this is like the one little corner of the Internet where mostly all is safe and your opinion is valued. Sure, your fan theory may be wrong, but people here don't go and tell you "that's so stupid lol, no way that's true". They'll give you actual feedback, explain the evidence that falsifies it, or add to it because they like it.

Even on YouTube, if someone posts a yellue ship video, for example, they'll get hate, or "the color quad are just siblings lol", or "they r stickmen why are u shipping them". If someone HCs Blue as a girl (ik that's been debunked where we are at rn), they'll get a comment saying "it's stickman for a reason".

Like, let people have their opinions. Alan has never confirmed the color quad as siblings, or their origin story. I know he has said that he would like to avoid romance by not making female characters, but it's not like the people who ship yellue or grapeduo barge up to his door and demand he makes it canon. They're just peaceful, and everything that you're saying is fanon. For all we know, four different animators could have collabed on the sticksfight website and each animated a different character (not saying that's true, but we don't know).

And even with hollowhead pairs. Alan created them, yes, but how does Creator transfer to father in this scenario? We don't know, because he hasn't confirmed the hollowheads as siblings either. They still get hate on YouTube.

But Tumblr just loves everyone. The AvA community, for example, will always make you feel like you posted something good. They lift you up, not put you down. They appreciate your headcanons because it provides a new way of looking at things.

They appreciate you.

I feel so much better about putting myself out there, and I know I will do so more in the future. I now cannot comprehend how someone can see all of this content and think "they are just stick figures". No they aren't. They are stick figures with trauma, feelings, pain, heroic qualities, fatal flaws.

You, tumblr, makes me feel this way.

Hello! This is my first time ever communicating with you as I'm mostly a more introverted reader and author, but when I discovered that you've been experiencing something similar to copyright issues, I HAD to say something.

As someone who has recently experienced the same thing here on Tumblr, I know how you feel. It's frustrating and discouraging seeing events, ideas, or even exact copies of your work being used without permission.

Also, I don't understand why someone is saying you are overthinking and being dramatic, an author KNOWS their work. We KNOW what we have written, KNOW what we have put our blood, sweat, and tears into; so we also know if someone copies our stuff, even if it's not blatantly obvious to readers or viewers.

People can steal authors' ideas, too, which is still copyright infringement, no matter how different the wording is.

For example, if I came across a Miguel fanfic about him working out in the gym, then becoming enraged when Peter B. Parker dropped a dumbbell on his foot, and I decided to write it that would become a stolen idea because it wasn't originally mine, no matter how differently I write it.

So please do not feel like you are making things bigger than they are. The least the person wishing to use anything of yours should do is ask the author of the original idea for permission for use or at least, credit them in their story.

(As of now, I'm unsure if the person who stole your work has credited or asked you yet, but I simply wished to say this.)

My DMs are always open to you. I've been a huge fan for a while, and it pains me to hear you are going through something like stolen work. 🙄🙄

I swear, it takes the joy out of writing or producing art when someone feels entitled to take something that obviously doesn't belong to them.

drawing $h (scars), tips and analysis from a devout house fan

this post obviously contains topics regarding $h, so please be cautious if your highly sensitive to such :p

HELLO all its like 1am however i've decided i wanted to rant about this for various reasons so.,,

i'm going to start by saying one of the most obvious bullet points i have: drawing scars on a character, oc or not, is NOT ROMANTICIZING THE ACTIONS OF $H!!!!!

many, and i mean many people do this 98.9% of the time because its a way to project past or current issues onto something that brings them comfort!! which is totally understandable,, it's a hundred times better to do that than to actually engage in the harming behaviors themselves, and i will say it has helped me quite a bit

now. since this is my little house sideblog i'm going to be using the way i and few others tend to draw him:

for the record, it is in fact canon that house does end up having $h issues (scene mentioned as shown below), of course along side every other issue he tends to collect in this show.. so for one do not get mad at someone for drawing such on a character or persona if it is something that has genuinely happened — theyre simply showing the passage of time in which said character has been able to heal.

now, when it comes to my particular art, i do happen to add more than what is shown to us in the show, only because from my personal perspective a "one time thing" can go a long way,, (once again, another showcase of projection)

as seen in bits of my doodles, i try desperately to not make them the focal point of my art as i know that perchance for some it may bring up some controversy (esp outside of tumblr) and i js hate it

HOWEVER, it should always be known that someone, drawn or real life, should NOT have to put a trigger warning on THEIR OWN BODY!! as long as the inflictions are healed, there should be absolutely no reason for someone asking them to "cover up." (if you do this youre a pos btw)

now, for some relative tips (?) per se on drawing them, its a vert subjective topic

when i draw them, i tend to make them have vague contrast between the skintone of a character: (i.e., a tanned character would have lighter scars, while a pale character would have pinkish/tanner scars)

of course, i know that certain people scar darker (i should know, i'm one of them) its also important to know that at times more saturated redder tones CAN be mistaken for fresh inflictions, so i would advise that if you do go for a red, try a less saturated undertone of it, since i've yet to see anyone who scars bright bright red

so ummm in conclusion, do not be a whiny bitch about someone who draws scars on a character because you absolutely have no idea what they might be dealing with and by automatically assuming theyre romanticizing it you obviously have zero clue of how people cope

being able to project (healthily) onto certain medias is a very positive form of coping, and i've found its helped me quite a lot over the years ! as of posting this i'm currently a bit over 4 months clean and am very motivated to keep this going :]]

i also would like to wish anyone who does deal with $h the best of luck and all the support, and i promise that things get better against whatever it may seem 🫂

On a brighter note I also create solo projects for fun, my Pikmin 4 AU/soft rewrite being one of them. That Pikmin 4 AU thingamabob I'm making is all in good fun, not supposed to be a genuine critique on Pikmin 4's story and writing decisions (I love Pikmin 4 so much btw) and it's also just pumped with my headcanons for the characters and stuff so that should be evidence that it's just a fun little goofy project and not a genuine rewrite of the story. When will I ever share stuff about it, idk but hopefully I will eventually.

Questions with Answers (Personal or for Team Cealverse)

What is Cealverse projects rated? - We typically try to keep it family friendly most of the time, or atleast viewable enough for all audiences. So, PG or PG-13.

Not targeted for younger kids, or anyone at all. You'd have to be as deranged as us to find our stuff amusing.

What about for the solo projects? - rating varies for my solo projects but I typically try to keep those for all audiences as well. I'll tell you when the topics could get not so family friendly but I'm pretty sure it's all mostly going to be for all audiences.

Phone Call 2 (Phone Call: Dial 2 for a Sequel) when? - Hopefully after this project led by Moilsoil, or Austin of Team Cealverse. Phone Call 2 is a sequel to Phone Call. Squilliam Fancyson returns home after getting brain damaged from PAL and Sylvanas Windrunner but he gets another Phone Call from Carl Wheezer. Somehow this chain of events almost leads to Carl obtaining Shaggy’s powers and almost destoying the city. Will Squilliam be able to stop him? We'll obviously he does because he shows up in the Catalyst War Arc but honest to God we don't know how the hell he did it.

What is the Catalyst War Arc? (The Catalyst War: The Neutron Star) - A Cealverse project led by Austin of Team Cealverse. It takes place around summer winter of 2023 (or 24) when Shaggy Rogers, Ancient of Power, sends a distress signal in the form of a Beach Party invitation, to most important characters from the Cealverse. The entire cast of Phone Call returns (Squilliam Fancyson, PAL, Carl Wheezer, and Sylvanas Windrunner), along with new faces of the Cealverse, such as Larry Waddling, the man who did something important that hasn't been written in lore yet, Captain Olimar, who welds the Master Exploder and defeated Satan with Larry, Dr. Bambnose, A Mad Scientist who accidentally fused Lord Farquaad with a pencil sharpener that one time, Collin from Pikmin 4 who totally did not read the Cealverse Bible and realized everything in his reality was written by a bunch of stupid highschoolers, AUSTIN COMMITS CRIMES, the guy everyone knows and loves, and his dad Mandy. We all know who Mandy is so I don't have to explain anything about him. They all gather as a probably or probably not a team to defeat the Ancient of Judgement, or the self titled Neutron Star, who just got back with the milk from his Shadow Realm Prison.

What is Project Larry? (Larry's Journey for the Master Exploder) - Prequel Spinoff to the Catalyst War Arc that focuses Larry Waddling and Olimar being hunted down by Animal Control. Also one of those Control Officers may or may not be Satan, specifically the one from the Pick of Destiny. Larry Waddling used to be American but now he has to unlearn being American and learn to be a something important that hasn't been written in the lore yet. Featuring Mandy. Everyone knows who Mandy is. Also Olimar likes rock music and becomes an avid Jack Black enjoyer in this. Also this is before Collin reads the book so he isn't actively trying to kill gods or play god. Also Mandy has 17 exes and several undocumented illegitimate children.

When will I share Pikmin 4 Rebloomed? (My pikmin 4 semi rewrite/AU) - Honestly I'll consider it when it gets more polished and that I'll have a starting point to jump off of to talk about it. The main characters are Pom and Collin mostly, and I'm pretty sure I have plans for Dingo, Shepherd, and a few others as well.

What the hell is Baby Devito? - A Pollin (Pom x Collin) crackfic me and Star of Team Cealverse made that toottaallyy is not a parody of a particular pikmin ship child that is totally not a wraith baby that Team Cealverse totally doesn't have a grudge against for no reason at all. After Pom sends a bunch of horrible tweets to Danny Devito on Twitter, the world punishes her and Collin to care for a little baby Danny Devito. So far we only have the prologue and chapters 1-2 released.

May the 4th hit me like a truck and i'm still stuck like a fly to a windshield 3 months later

(just posting notes from my ramble doc, i should just get the app at this point)

Man it’s lonely not having people outside of online spaces being just as obsessed with the same media. My sib and I have kind of drifted apart in terms of tastes in shows/fandoms and my folks aren’t interested at all. I don’t really have any friends in my hometown that I could just go on impromptu hangouts to the mall or park with, and the ones I do have their own long established clique and they’re into different stuff. It’s not like in college with living on campus, and all those friends are miles away. These days it’s hard to even find a free day. I think it really comes down to I wish I had someone to turn to and be like “this character connects to this and foreshadows this and did you know etc. etc.” basically infodumping but actually being listened to with the same amount of enthusiasm. 

   I want to talk about Star Wars, casual mainstream stuff I guess, like I’m late in the game but just started the Bad Batch and I got so excited hearing the narrator again. I used to watch the Clone Wars when I was little so it was a huge hit of nostalgia. Funnily enough I’ve basically gotten the highlights of the whole series through reaction posts, fanart, clips, and finally decided ok I’ll check it out after reading a fic (it was "Success Rate" on Ao3 btw). I wasn’t initially interested when the Bad Batch first came out until their personalities really started to show and of course sibling family moments. And I’ll admit the fandom space from what I could see on insta genuinely looked like fun from the sidelines. 

   The Dad Batch is so real, watching the very first episode knowing what happens later on and how much they grow it’s bittersweet and touching. Literally the moment Hunter sees Omega it’s like the remnants of the paternal Mandalorian instincts kicked in. This man was already set on becoming a father figure even if he hadn’t realized it. I just thought it was the fans doing their thing but no I witnessed it with my own eyes they’re all girldads and now I wish I got into the series sooner. 

   Also because I’m an animator at heart I love catching the little side glances between the brothers and the little quirks. For being voiced by the same guy, each of the Bad Batch have their own distinct personalities and mannerisms and I’m having such a good time.

   Omega is such a sweetheart, I don’t get how people could not like her! She’s literally baby and I know she grows up at the end of the series, so seeing how she started out she’s so small! She’s just a kid! She’s their little girl! They love her immediately and wholeheartedly! I didn’t know that in the first episode Order 66 just hits them like that, everything is confusing and chaos, the world they’ve known their whole lives is crumbling down. But they risk their lives and their freedom and return to Kamino for her! 

   The food fight scene was great, absolutely love how they’re ready to throw hands.

Nothing is more euphoric than finding a piece of fanart you remembered liking years ago but not remembering the artist so you go on a long search detective style and then find it! Yes it was Bad Batch content—I liked the occasional art even though I had never seen a single episode until now and I’m living rn absolutely delighted to find the piece was part of TBB Zine! Catching up on quality content now with context is healing rn (just in case the piece is by clone.enthusiast aka Bird on insta, forever treasuring this I’m smiling)-update: i think with the whole Meta AI thing the artist left Instagram and I'm so sad i can't find them.

Anyhoo, wanted to get that part out of my system. Been busy with a new job that's been so draining that I haven't finished Season 1 yet. Burnout has made picking up a pencil feel like holding a hot iron that it just hurts idk. Thinking of making a Tumblr blog just for professional art portfolio things since Instagram is now a hot garbage fire and lots of people are moving to Cara. I don't think i'll leave Insta myself since I've got mutuals there and there's still awesome art around. But yeah that's what's life been lately, if you've read this far, thanks!

Monthly-ish check-in

Gonna disappear again for a bit after posting this

Decided to major in animation because ever since losing all of my confidence when it comes to writing creatively in Creative Writing class, my focus has been moved entirely to storyboards and scripts. Storytelling is still my passion but clearly I'm not very good with words, and tbh the only reason I had ever really been confident in my writing is because I'm good with grammar. I feel like my storyboards/scripts are pretty good and capture the exact energy I've never really been able to get across in my writing, but actual animation capabilities are still yet to be seen because I can barely fucking draw in the first place. Gonna also experiment with 3D modeling in college, because who knows, maybe I'm better if I can see my work from multiple angles at a time.

Maybe I'll host a MAP at some point when I fully come back to tumblr. If I do, it'll probably be centered around Traffic Life. Or maybe IBVS if there's enough people.

Fandom-wise, I somehow managed to get Echos obsessed with Traffic Life by showing them some episodes of Secret Life (specfically Tango's Torchy one). Then we watched Empires together, and now Echos is watching season 10 of Hermitcraft with me (Grian, Scar, and Joel's povs, though without them I've also been watching Mumbo, Bdubs, occasionally Zed, and now Doc. Before season 10 I only watched Grian, Scar, and Bdubs). I've even started working on a little something centered around Jimmy and the Canary Curse. Also add Xornoth to the list of even remotely evil-aligned characters that I thought were dudes at first and find out they're nonbinary/genderfluid/genderqueer after I start crushing on them. This is the, what, fifth time? At this point if I get a crush on a character I should just immediately start calling them by they/them. Specifically the Empires the Musical one btw, not the one that's just Smajor with a voice filter.

Still been having major nostalgia for Feral ever since downloading Emuferal. Got Krita to paint something based on it but I don't know when I'll post that. Wrote around three complete animatic scripts featuring the Blood Tundra kobolds. Three is actually a very small number compared to the amount I normally write per fandom. (Then again, I've only got around 2-ish for IBVS. That's probably because I like to focus on symbolism for my animation scripts, and the only consistent symbolism I can think of for IBVS is with Isaac and birds. He's been drawn in a bird cage, which is very much known to symbolize being trapped or lacking some kind of freedom. In another bit of art he's been drawn with wings, showing the achievement of freedom. Freedom from what? Hell if I know. Possibly unrelated to the bird stuff, in another bit of art, Isaac is seen holding Drew's hand. Drew has a confused, upset expression, and Isaac's expression is unreadable as always but I interpret it as being rather solemn. Isaac's feet are, notably, not on the fucking ground. He's drifting away, and Drew's trying to hold onto him. This could symbolize Isaac shutting down emotionally/socially and Drew trying to help. Or, if this connects to the freedom symbolism, Isaac might fucking die by the end of IBVS. It's probably the first one. I am eating this shit up I fucking adore symbolism.)

Speaking of IBVS, I've been reworking Curse!IBVS. The version I posted about in the past was basically the second version of Curse (I never posted anything about the first) so this one would be version three. Isaac's going back to being much more like version 1 because I decided I'm not a huge fan of the second one for multiple reasons. Due to Drew having healing powers, he and Nevin are also getting reworked - I even wrote a little snippet surrounding them just to get the vibes right, but I don't think I'll ever post it. Edward's curse is basically staying the same, but the way he handles it is being changed so he can work as a sort of foil to Nevin. I'm still trying to figure out how to turn Dez's power into a curse without making it too similar to Nevin's or Edward's. And I'm thinking Chris and Charlie can be more similar to normal IBVS, and then I can use Chris as a sort of anchor to introduce everything else. Also my brain keeps showing my this huge dramatic climax scene but unfortunately I think it's a little too out-of-character and I have no clue how it'd even get to that point.

Got the fourth Animorphs graphic novel. The whale thing is still super weird. Ax looks nothing like I imagine him. Not much more to say on that.

Started playing Royale High more regularly but it's a bit depressing because I've been playing since it was Winx Fairies and Mermaids Roleplay and now it's just Work a Job to Buy Useless Items and Invest in the Stock Market Simulator. Idk the musical chairs minigame is pretty fun.

Warrior Cats animations continue to be my main inspiration for basically everything I've ever drawn. I could write about them for hours but it's already 1am so I probably shouldn't. Oh and the new arc is pretty good if you cut out everything that isn't Frostpaw. Might be my new favorite pov character.

Really disappointed Camp Camp ended on ep 4 of the new season because literally episode 5 is always either a Jasper episode or my favorite episode Quartermoon Convergence. I can't believe my favorite character is now bald forever and my second favorite character hasn't been mentioned since season 3. On the plus side I have a whole separate document from my main script one just for Camp Camp animatic scripts because I've written so many of them. I don't know what I have more of, UTMV scripts or Camp Camp ones.

For years, crossovers have for some reason been my brain's main focus. Probably because the first ever fanfic I read was Morphing is Magic, and that shit was fire. So here's a few of the odd ones that have found their way into my thoughts:

•Yet another variation of an Animorphs and IBVS crossover.

•"The Othermind from WoF can affect people who ingest the Breath of Evil, and Nightmare's goo can break down and absorb anything, so could he be affected by the Othermind if he was stabbed one of the vines? Would it not count because he doesn't have a bloodstream?"

•IBVS constantly haunts my brain so that last one turned into the IBVS characters being dropped into the WoF world (as humans, mind you) but Drew and Nevin are in Pantala while the rest end up in Pyhrria.

I don't remember how or why I drew Drew's hair like that. I don't know why Dez would be trying to catboyify Drew, or why using the wrong materials would get him possessed by Ende from Feral. But by god, the thing that caught me off-guard most is the words "Is this what I get for saving your life? Catboyfication?" and I don't think I could write something funnier if I tried. Of course my brain immediately began to run with this, resulting in this blurb of text later being sent to Echos:

Me: it's four in the fucking morning, *stop* thinking of dumbass crossovers, they don't even make any fucking sense / My brain: monika said she had some of rachel's memories when possessing her. What if, when ende possesses drew, she's led back to his home and immediately feels like this place is a sanctuary - a safe place after being in danger for so long - something that drew has managed to find but ende still longs for. When she walks inside and sees nevin, she gets really emotional and can't stop herself from hugging him, then has to come up with the excuse that she (still pretending to be drew) didn't realized how much she missed him, then makes a fake promise to explain what happened in the morning. When she's by herself in drew's room she silently swears to drew - despite the fact she can feel he's falling into some kind of 'sleep', one that she can only recognize because she herself has been in an absent 'sleep' like that for so long - that she'll do everything she can to make sure they can both be free in this place. And when she goes to bed, she experiences drew's memory dream, and ende can relate to the feeling of having an important memory be kept from her. / And then the arms around her feel like they're turning into wings, and when she opens her eyes (though still dreaming) she sees luka. And ende demands to know why, if she's supposed to forget everything, can't they let her move on? A blizzard rages on in the background. She tries to pull away from luka's arms, but they still feel like wings encasing her - trying to keep a member of the flock safe, but only trapping her there - or like those of the watcher's. Again, she demands why they can't just let her go. Luka keeps their signature empty smile, but their eyes are not their own, boring down into ende like those of an all-too familiar statue. And then she wakes up, and she makes a second promise to the boy who can't even hear her: she's going to help him remember. / Me: stfu its sleep time. honk shoo. honk mimimimi. go to fucking bed.

At some point I threw DogDay in there just for the hell of it even though he doesn't fit the criteria whatsoever. One of the doodles is just Scott, confused, with a thought bubble containing a cartoony sun symbol. (Wait, does Jake from Animorphs count? Can't believe I missed that.)

Also been reconnecting with some irl friends I hadn't spoken to since the Women List Dude incident. First time hanging out at a friend's house for as long as I can remember, and you best believe one of my rambles led from Spiderverse to Undertale AUs to Kirby Takes Manhattan to the origins of the ship Fingers In His Ass Sunday. Also got to learn a bit more about Women List Dude, whom none of them even knew I had experience with, and vice versa. To quote one of my friends, "Every time I talk to someone new about him, the story grows." Apparently he was fucking infamous in our school, and not even just in our grade. Istg he's practically an urban legend. "Oh, [Woman List Dude]? Yeah, I've got some stories about him..." *crackling of a campfire, the smell of smores.* Except there's concrete evidence and multiple witnesses to every account. It's honestly hilarious.

Hello! It’s time for another “Take a Taste”! The series is about delicious food with my two paper dolls.

Aww yeah, another round of going "Mang Inasal" restaurant? Yes, please! 😋 This Time, I'm invited with my parents at the different Mang Inasal branch, on Mar 26th, 2024. 🏢🍴 However, once again, I broke the rules for not eating meat this year's "Holy Week", so please forgive me. 😔 Nevertheless, here's my review of Mang Inasal's famous dish, the "Chicken Inasal", particularly the "Breast" part (in Tagalog we called it "Pecho" [pi-cho]) I ordered 🍴🍗. And let's not forget, the "Unlimited Rice" (or "Unli Rice" for short)! ➕🍚🤤 So will I satisfied with my order as my previous one? 🤔 Let's find out, right now! 😀

• Here's what "Chicken Inasal" looks like in all of its perfect serving 🇵🇭🍗; let alone the slightly mess on my "Unli Rice" green plate. Plus, let's not forget the free warm 'Tamarind Soup' 🇵🇭 🫘 🥣, as well as the condiments that we mentioned in my previous topic, in Jan 2024. *Sniff* (2x) Can you smell the burning charcoal goodness, you two? I bet you are! 🍴🍗🍚🤤 Unfortunately, I didn't get the "Unlimited Java Rice" (over the owing to a different menu. That's all right, I should make another plan, someday. 🤷‍♀️

BTW: We decided to drink water over soda for budget reason. 🥛💧

• Anyway, normally I used cutlery as my main purpose for three meal servings (Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner), both at home and at food-related establishments. Just like you're doing it daily. 🍴 However, for this day, it's time to get my hands on the traditional "Filipino Way"! 😁 That's right! We Filipino blood (like myself) use our human hand/hands as our traditional cutlery, whether there's a meal on the plate or a meal on the large banana leaf. The latter was another traditional "Filipino Way" called the "Boodle Fight". 🇵🇭🤲🍚🍗🐟😋 "It's a meal that dispenses with cutlery and dishes. Diners instead practice kamayan and eat straight off the table unlike typical instances of eating with the hands of individual plates", according to my rapid research. 🔍🌐

• Thankfully, I have my recorded video shot at 60fps for the FIRST TIME! 🎦⏺️📱😃 Also, my first muted video sound because it is super noisy inside, even in ✝️ "Holy Week" ⛪. Okay, it's actually two videos I recorded, so I combined them into one (using Filmora 9). 🙂

• All video aside, here's me using my single right hand as my cutlery after I washed my hands (before recording). You can see, I'm picking a small amount of grilled chicken with my bare fingers before I dip in some chicken oil I put some small amount of rice, and shove it through my mouth. It is super DELICIOUS! 🍗🍚🤤 I also doing it again, this time I'm dipping a fuse of chicken oil and some soy sauce! Yum-yum! 😋 Yeah, it could be messy and I should request plastic gloves, but I simply can't help myself without wearing plastic gloves. As for the "Unli Rice", I requested two rounds of steamy rice from the food server before I was done eating and sipping a little tamarind soup, and then I coughed. 😫 I'll be fine, though. 😅

• Overall? Just like before, it was satisfied our taste buds from eating a Chicken Inasal Pecho with Unlimited Rice! Which, by the way, I decided to take home my leftover grilled chicken for any day meal. 🍗😊 And, what can I say? Chicken Inasal did everything right for the past decades, and they never stopped serving the Philippine people (like us)! 🇵🇭🍗😋

• As for the asking price? It cost ₱199 ($3.49) 💵 w/ "Unlimited Rice" included. However, if you want a single shot of steamy rice and not a "Unlimited Rice", then it cost ₱164 ($2.87) 💵 for Solo choice. To me "Rice is Life", so I'm definitely gonna order a meal with "Unlimited Rice". 🍗🍚➕😋

So, for the like 3 of you that maybe have wondered where have I been the last weeks, well, basically playing FF7 Rebirth and chilling on cohost.

Thing is, after the whole tumblr selling our data to train ai models fiasco, I was kinda in shock and decided to leave this place. I uninstalled the app from my phone, did backups of my blogs (which I wasn't gonna delete, just stop uploading), went to cohost and started posting there (it's super chill btw, it's like early tumblr mixed with old twitter, in case you're wondering). All while processing what to do next, because frankly, we've all felt that tumblr is somewhat on decline and seeing all the bad stuff it's CEO has done as of late -including threats of nuking the site this year-, the last few years always felt like there was an invisible countdown on this website all the time.

But still, I'm not gonna pretend I'm not gonna miss it, if not tumblr per se, certainly some of the people I've met here who are my mutuals of many years, many of which I've become friends with. Also, despite everything, I still think this is a good platform for posting art. Cohost has its good things (like being WAY more relaxed about NSFW stuff), but there are more file size restrictions, photosets are limited to fewer pictures, etc. There might be some ways to improve that besides what the staff there is doing, since cohost lets you edit posts in many more ways than tumblr (read somewhere that it was tumblr, but for hornier and more linux savy people), so there's also that.

Anyway, after processing everything that happened, and understanding that one way or another, my art's probably gonna be scraped from the internet nevertheless, even if tumblr offers an opt out option (that doesn't even consider the people that tumblr decides to sell our stuff to, let alone the fact that it also arrived so late that we probably everything was already scraped to begin with) even if I glaze it or whatever, I kinda made peace with what happened. I'm still weary about uploading, or where to do it. Yes, I know that I don't have huge numbers or a distinctive enough style for people to copy, but I also know that, nevertheless, not only my art, but the things I've written, the photos I've taken, etc., all has been fed into that slot machine of generating content. If anything, with the days I've noticed I'm way more angry at techbros as usual, and especially tumblr ceo and part of it's staff -I know that not everyone agrees with him and that there are good people in the staff, but there's also sycophants, professional "yes man"s and the like-.

So, after all that, I thought, well, might as well go back. But the thing is that, after spending a couple of weeks away (and missing the posts I imagine came up here both about the Cerveza Cristal meme and about Toriyama's death, among other things), coming back here has been weird, like, for better or worse, it has lost its appeal. I've read a couple of posts before writing this one and I was like "has it always been like this here?".

So, what now? I have no clue. I don't think I'm gonna download the mobile app again, if anything, I've noticed how much time it consumed to just check tumblr with the frequency I used to, so I don't feel like doing that anymore. I think I might pop up here from time to time, maybe return to live blogging Critical Role and Candela Obscura. Will probably like more stuff than the one I post and reblog. Still deciding if I should post new art stuff here, we'll see.

a couple things about the illustration i just posted on my art blog because i'm really proud of it and wanna talk about it. long ramble incoming

for one, 6 months of improvement between these two pieces (left new, right old) and i'm not sure how that happened. obviously the old one wasn't meant to be a whole illustration, more of a doodle, but Still?

second, a while ago i decided i should start doing palette/value tests for my illustrations before jumping into the render since it helps me feel less blind and once again i think i've made the right decision there. i basically do the test on top of the flats with a big airbrush and then save it as an alternate version and reference it as i work on the render proper. you can see the palette test vs the final of the illustration here:

oh and i didn't wanna clutter the tumblr post with it but i actually did save a timelapse of the thing, just not with the lines because i forgot AAA and it jumps a few times where i forgot to hit record. but it's still satisfying i think HFSDFDS FLASHING WARNING BTW i turn layers on and off a lot

my art still isn't where i want it to be but i feel like with every big illustration i take on i'm learning a lot ajdsioasd i used to be way too scared to even attempt anything like this. and this one was especially intimidating because it's MOSTLY background, the characters take up such a small amount of space relatively!! that's really new for me hsdfjkfds

oh and one last side note, the blanket on this illustration was by far the most fun part for me to draw and render. i had a blast with this thing

i have no idea what my kaf/u illustration will be in march but i guess i'll find out eventually :D gotta work on other projects now hsjfdsdf

I say this with the sincerest belief: every writer should have someone who never points out flaws about their work, ever, and that they trust to never do that, ever.

Writers should also have people who do point out flaws about their work, of course, because that’s how their work can get better.

But!! For the emotional ability of writers to keep writing, to believe that their writing is worth doing, it is essential to have safe-haven readers. People we can take writing to and know they’ll remind us why we write.

Readers and commenters can fill different needs: improving writing, and ensuring writing.

Jason is too OPEN. Tim is too GUARDED. They have the same emotions (YOU ARE FAMILY I LOVE YOU I AM HURT AND LONELY) but they deal with them in two ways:

Jason: he’s an open book, a bleeding heart, a scream of defiance & pain & rage. He takes all his giant emotions and pours them out in a river in front of his loved ones’ feet and DEMANDS answers. He burns his bridges before others can burn them because he is saying LOOK AT THIS, IT��S RUINED, RIGHT? IT’S RUINED, RIGHT? —not realizing that, if he hadn’t set the bridges on fire, they would have still been there—broken, maybe, damaged, but still there, still fixable.

Tim: he’s a closed book, a chained-up heart, a locked jaw, a stifled scream. He takes his emotions and tells them river, run in your proper course and do not leave that course; don’t you dare flood. He lets his bridges rot because if he says “this bridge is getting worn down” too often, he will be acknowledging that something is wrong with him. What if his loved ones tell him that he’s at fault for letting their bridges fall into disrepair again? What if, even worse, they decide that the bridge is an eyesore and decide to remove it altogether? No, no, no, better to isolate himself on his island and just keep the structure of the bridges intact enough for him to survive. No need to call attention to their state of decay.

Thank you for the ask!!! Sorry this is pretty late btw, I haven’t had time to answer it lol

(That’s Iphi on the left, Jack on the right. First is a picrew, second isn’t my art but like. I haven’t drawn Jack yet so that’s kinda their ref for now)

But it is rant time!! Imma start with Iphi! Because I kinda need to explain her to give context for Jack’s lore. 

So Iphi is the god of sacrifice in this little fantasy world I made, Kunyang! She’s a pretty old god, a couple of thousand years old, but she’s still the second youngest one lol.

In Kunyang, gods are born when they sprout from the seeds of the god tree. The god tree is in the divine realm, which is a different realm entirely from the physical realm, but very rarely, a god seed can arrive in the physical realm.

Anyways, this seed fell into the hands of a very magically powerful person. They had magic potential that could honestly rival a god- and yeah, they believed they were destined for great things because of it. So, they were determined to be the person who caused the god seed to sprout.

So in Kunyang, there was once this library called the Archives, run by the god of knowledge himself, Ephius. This person went to Ephius, and they were told that the seed was for the god of sacrifice. Ephius told the person that to sprout a god seed, they’d need sacrifices from thousands of people. This person wanted to do it, all by themself.

And so, they sacrificed everything. Family, friends, fortune, and fame. All gone, in the hopes of making a legacy. The seed did not sprout, because it wasn’t enough. So this person decided that they would need to make a very big sacrifice, one big enough to make the seed sprout.

They decided to banish the Archives from the physical realm into the divine realm, sacrificing humanity’s access to the library of all knowledge. And that was indeed a big enough sacrifice to give birth to a new god!

And that’s how Iphi was created. But the thing is- that’s really not how you’re supposed to create a god. So she was kind of corrupted from birth. This corruption prevented her from having a lot of character traits that one might consider important to being human.

Iphi does not feel happiness, or satisfaction. No sorrow or regret. Nothing of that sort. But she is working towards a goal: and that is creating a legacy. Having an effect on the world. (Her only contributor to her creation imprinted heavily on her.)

And because of that, she is very active in all manners of sacrifice. Every day, she’s constantly getting people to make sacrifices to her, amassing followers in many different lands. This also increases her powers heavily.

The way her powers work, they’re kinda like payment based. She gets someone to sacrifice something for her, and she can create something else of equal value to that something. (The more important that something was to the person who sacrificed it, the more she can create and do.) Like, she could make a giant wall of fire, or acid rain, or bury a country in gold if she had enough magic. Which she absolutely does. But she mostly saves the magic potential she receives for later.

And also, Iphi doesn’t truly care about anything other than making a mark on the world. She doesn’t mind if people die or suffer because her sacrifices took something too important- if anything, she wants to do that, because it’s quite a way of making your mark on the world.

Oh, and I gotta add- she can’t do this all without a little help! And that’s where Jack comes in.

They’re also a couple thousand years old, but quite younger than Iphi. So they used to be a court jester. Mortal and everything. They should have had a life of a normal length, be just another person in the world, but then they fell in love with Iphi.

And yeah they’re aromantic! It’s not romantic love, it’s alterous love. But yeah they felt a deep emotional attraction, and they wanted to be in a relationship (not a romantic or platonic one though). Anyways, Iphi doesn’t feel the same way. She doesn’t love Jack. But she thought it was convenient to have someone in love with her, and to keep them around, so she offered Jack a sacrifice.

She’d give them eternity, and they would be her servant.

Jack honestly didn’t want to do that at first, but then they had a near-death experience, and agreed to her terms.

So Iphi took their physical body, and also their independence.

Because it would be inconvenient if her servant got bored or wanted to take back the sacrifice. So Jack quite literally cannot think unless she wills it. They’re barely conscious until Iphi needs them, and only then can they think again.

Jack isn’t even aware this happens. To them, it feels like they just woke up, or they just simply forgot what happened during that time

Iphi also messed with Jack’s mind a bit, to amplify their devotion. And yeah, Jack is completely, utterly devoted to her. They would die for her, they’d be tortured for her, they would kill for her too. Nothing is off the table. They’d do anything she says. And they truly love her.

Jack mostly stays in the divine realm, usually, until Iphi sends them to the physical realm to do something for her. That something is usually extorting people to get more sacrifices. Jack pretty much curses people, and then offers to remove that curse in exchange for a sacrifice. (That’s how Janessa got cursed, actually [have I talked about her?] but Jack forgot they cursed her lmao.)

Hi! I just saw your quick start guide for the new twitter refugees and as someone who has been on tumblr since 2013/14 I was actually pretty impressed - you seem to have adapted very well. It got me wondering: how do you feel about all the "twitter-refugee-phobia" you have seen in the last few weeks? Personally, I'm kinda worried with the idea of new people ruining the tumblr echosystem, but I would like to see your point of vew (Sorry to bother you btw <3)

I totally understand that worry! Thinking on it, I believe it comes from two separate sources.

The first, and in my view more legitimate fear, is that Tumblr will become more like Twitter in that we'll see more corporations/celebrities/influencers/advertisers come here and somehow upset the ecosystem, as you say. In honesty, Tumblr has some built in defense mechanisms that make this less of a worry for me. Namely, they have access to the same tools as everyone else. There's no personal information here for them to buy, no real algorithm to game, no verification system. When anyone joins, they're just like you and me.

I'm heartened to see folks like @flanaganfilm come and check out Tumblr and take advantage of things like the ask feature. I think it's a really great way to interact with folks that feels more personal than Twitter pedestals.

The second fear I see is that somehow regular Twitter users are going to come in and ruin the place in an unspecified way. I guess the fear is they're going to bring a specific brand of toxicity or some such, but that seems unfounded to me. I think about how so many people are hooked to Twitter and don't know how awful it is and how much more comfortable they can be with a social media platform and themselves. We should encourage and welcome them!

Sure, this place isn't going to be for everyone, and I suspect many will check it out and bounce. And yeah, some not-so-great folks will find their way in. But at the end of the day, the block button, filtering, and content moderation tools still work the same!

When I came to Tumblr, I felt fairly instantly like I could be more myself. I could talk about weirder hobbies, I could engage with queer art, I could make silly Dracula Daily memes, and it all felt not just okay but encouraged. I want that same experience for everyone.

If Twitter really is the "modern public square," you're still putting on a mask and a front when interacting with people. Tumblr let me take that mask off, and I want everyone to have that opportunity.

A Tumblr Quick Start Guide

A year ago, I realized that every time I logged onto Twitter, I felt my blood pressure rise. It's a platform that runs on anger and outrage, and I wanted someplace better to spend my screen time. In my almost-year on Tumblr, I now realize I log on here and get one or two good laughs every time I check my dashboard.

Tumblr has given me a lot lately, but it is a bit different than other platforms. I'd like to give back a little and provide a quick-start guide on how being new to Tumblr worked for me.

Finding Things to Follow

The biggest thing I had to get used to was realizing that on Tumblr, you don't necessarily follow people or celebrities or politicians. You follow your interests. In fact, it's pretty common to follow only strangers that post things you like. That can make your empty dash daunting to fill! Let's fill it with things you love and make you happy.

Make a list, mental or otherwise, of things you're interested in. Be both broad and specific! Board Games. Magic The Gathering. Supernatural. Marvel. Video Games. 8-Bit. Urban planning. Any and all things that you like!

Pick one of your interests and search for that tag. Flip between "Latest" and "Top" and browse around to see what kind of content is in that tag. You'll notice images, art, gif sets, TikToks, videos, essays - all sorts of things!

If you see a lot of things you like, cool! Click the button to Follow that tag if you want to keep up to date on it and find things later (we'll come back to this).

If you see a post you love, check out who posted or reblogged it. Scroll around on their blog. Do they post similar stuff? Are there other things you like here? Are they posting often? If you like what they post, follow the blog! Congrats, you've followed your first blog!

Take some time and check out some other tags and follow the same process - follow tags you like and blogs you might be interested in. It's not possible to over-follow! You can always curate your list later. This isn't Twitter - no one cares if you unfollow someone. Find what makes you happy.

Go back to your main dashboard - how are things looking? Filled with things you're interested in? Excellent. If things don't work for you, don't be afraid to unfollow blogs.

Want to follow more blogs? New episode of Andor drop? Go to the "Your Tags" header and scroll around to find some more juicy content. Check out blogs you like, follow 'em if you like em, rinse and repeat! That's curating your dash!

Your Blog is Your House

Okay, so you have a dashboard of content that you like - but what do you do with it all? Someone once described a Tumblr blog to me like your little house that you can fill with all the things you like. There is no rhyme or reason, and you don't need an excuse to reblog something other than the fact that you liked it!

If you see something you like, reblog it! To me, I reblog things when I say "I like this and I want it to live in my house so other people can see it when they come visit"

Reblogging is like passing a message along to other people. You can just reblog it on its own to amplify it, or you can add your own tags, or if you have a funny reaction gif/thought/video/thousand-word-essay, add to it when you reblog!

Use tags. People actually find posts through tags here. Use them to help people discover that really cool reblog you found! You can also search for tags on specific blogs. This makes them great for categorizing posts on your own blog. For example, I use #2022 Game Journal when I blog about whatever game I'm playing so I can do a year-end review later and find all the posts later.

Like things too. Likes don't amplify posts, but they're nice to let a poster know you appreciated it! I also use likes a bookmark. Sometimes I don't have time to watch that TikTok, so I'll like it as a reminder to come back to it later.

Be Weird. You can have sideblogs to hold more specific content, but don't be afraid to just scoop up anything you like and put it in your house! Reblogging is how content gets passed around.

Random Blog Tips

Wow nice job, your blog's looking great! Before you know it, someone will find it, check out your posts, and maybe give you a follow if they like what you've made or what your reblog! The last thing I'll touch on here are some nitty-gritty tips that can help you think about all the meta stuff about Tumblr:

Tumblr is the most anonymous social media platform. No one has to know who you are. Take advantage of all the privacy options.

You can also hide likes and who you follow from public view - that's no one else's business! Turn off asks too if you want.

Play around with your settings in general - there are lots of customization options and other dash tabs that you can use to find new content. You can also turn on timestamps so you know if a post you see is a "heritage post," as they say. Content is evergreen here and I personally like to see that in action.

You can filter and hide tags that you don't want to see.

Just block people liberally, it's cool.

You can pay to remove ads (nice), but you can also leave the option to see Blazed posts on. Blazed posts are ones that people pay for impressions for - and any post can be Blazed. The kicker is, there's no ad targeting. It can be quite funny or quite annoying depending on what you want.

When viewing the notes on a post, you'll see comments, reblogs, and likes. For the reblogs section, I like to filter by "Comments only" to find what people have added to the post.

Like all social media sites, there are dark corners here. I think Tumblr more than most puts you in control to curate your Dashboard to only see what you want. Block a user, hide a post, and move on.

That should be quite enough to get started! Tumblr can take a little more time to "get" compared to other social media platforms (and get in on the long-running jokes!), but trust me, after a week, you'll notice the difference between checking your Tumblr dashboard and checking your Twitter timeline.

Feel free to not reblog anything.

Heck you don't even have to like anything.

Lurk all you want. The worst someone can do is block you.

It's perfectly okay if your blog doesn't exist for the sole purpose of supporting each and every artist of every single post that appeals to you.

Your blog doesn't belong to them.

And I'm saying this as a blog that primarily actively reblogs art and only uses likes for organization.

People get so hung-up over reblogs being better than likes.

Like it's such a necessity for all the new users to "learn how tumblr works"...

Do they stop to consider that maybe someone just wants to exist on an anonymous public platform without a stranger on the internet telling them what to do?

If new users care about tumblr etiquette they can learn it easily enough without 'Well actually' posts talking down to them.

Y'all seem all too quick to blame the people who barely just got here for not supporting artists enough...

Just a suggestion,

but how about you blame platforms and their exploitative marketing and censorship practices for screwing over the content creators they depend on to keep their companies afloat,

rather than random individual users with new accounts who, contrary to popular opinion, still don't owe you a thing?

After watching Risk/Strikeback for the who-knows-how-many-nth time, I just noticed something.

So Nino doesn't believe Adrien doesn't want to go because he figures his best friend would tell him, right?

Well that's good logic, except this is after Rocketear, where Adrien saw Nino react negatively to Cat Noir, the version of himself where he gets to actually express his feelings.

Even with the misunderstanding with him and Alya, it had to have hurt to see how Nino really felt, just like it was with Kagami.

So of course he doesn't tell Nino his true feelings. After what happened this season, he feels like he can't trust anyone (he even considers it a risk when he tells Marinette).

This makes it even worse that it becomes increasingly apparent to him that Ladybug doesn't trust him. Because she's the only one he feels like he can be himself around.

He's felt more alone than ever this season.

But then Ladybug has a full-on panic attack right in front of him, and because he's Adrien, he finally gets to see past the brave face she puts on, and her constant frustrations with Cat Noir, to the incredible pressure the girl he still loves is under.

He's never seen her fall apart like this. He immediately snaps into focus, talking her through it. And when she realizes she lost and collapses in despair, the look on his face when he decides to go in and comfort her says it all.

He was right to be upset at how she was treating him, and finally she acknowledges this, but he'd never abandon her. And now that it's just the two of them against the world all over again, his unwavering support and devotion is what finally gets through to her.
